I recently stumbled across the portfolio website of the photographer Michael Muller, he's mostly famous for taking model shots for a lot of famous actors, pop-stars and celebrities. He also has a couple of expedition albums, one of which I have....erm....appropriated these shots! Slightly naughty really.
Anyway, whilst looking at his pictures I realised that I could 'improve' them, this is of course subjective but I'm happy with the results. I added a few lens blurs, upped the saturation and generally improved the structure and sharpening.
Historically my obsession with sharks, particularly Great Whites stems from my childhood when my brother Martin took me to see Jaws in 1976. I was an impressionable 7 year old and it really stuck with me. I even went through a spell where I thought the bath water running away sounded like the gurgle a shark might make whilst it eats you. Mum used to have to drag me to the bathroom!
So from those early days, the seed was planted. Nowadays I will watch any shark related programme and enjoy Shark Week on The Discovery Channel. This fixation all culminated in me being lucky enough to actually go cage diving with Great Whites in Gaansbaai, South Africa which was exhilarating to say the least. You can view my video here on my website on my About Me page.
Thanks to Michael Muller even though he probably doesn't know I "borrowed" his pictures but I hope he'd approve. You can view more of his work at http://www.mullerphoto.com/
I hope you enjoy the pictures and my blog posts, all comments and likes gratefully received!
